The world lecture project – (wlp)° is a video library
(wlp)° is the central platform for delivering academic videos from faculties worldwide. You can find videos according to various criteria: theme, faculty, country, language, institution and others.
We do not only collect and embed videos provided by huge video-patforms like youtube, vimeo, Dailymotion, but we also link to videos on untiversity-websites and other institutions from everywhere. Thus you can search and access many sources from the (wlp)° platform to find the videos of your interest.
It is our aim to provide video-lectures, -experiments, -courses, MOOC’s in every spoken language and so we invite you to add videos or to edit the video descriptions. Universities, organisations or institutions with video collections may contact us and we can create an interface to migrate their videos metadata.
► Here you may register new videos.
On themed sites we have a look at what leading scientists from different countries and faculties have to say about actual political themes. New discoveries and tendencies in science and humanities are being introduced and discussed in the light of ongoing political controversies, opposing opinions are displayed, related background-material linked.
Our partner GlobalNet21 is providing Webinars related to the themes displayed on (wlp)° and we invite other libraries to link their content, organisations and scholars to participate with their expertise and media to report about the thems.
(wlp)° is a collaborative project, looking for Partners
We are not in competition to other e-learning services. Rather we want to generate synergies between them. (wlp)° is expanding permanently and a growing number of partner organisations, universities and institutions are getting involved. We are looking for partners across the globe who contribute in facilitating the exchange of and the access to knowledge for everyone – everywhere. Interested organisations are welcome to collaborate with their own ideas and initiatives.
(wlp)° is collaborating with a number of institutions and organisations. Its widespread network will help (wlp)° to extend its scope and to initiate projects that help disseminating scientific information.
► (wlp)° is looking for partners, interested in establishing (wlp)° themed subsites. Please contact us, if you are interested in creating a themed site in your field of expertise.
► (wlp)° is looking for partners, interested in establishing satellite offices in their countries. Please contact us, if you would like to run (wlp)° in your country!
Seeing that a central library for academic videos is demanded, we started the world lecture project back in 2005. Meanwhile we collected more than 16.000 videos, and improved the design and technology of the platform.
The video collection is growing permanently. But to turn information into knowledge and knowledge into action, the main challenge remains to validate the data we are receiving over the internet, to contextualise and communicate them and to assist users with locating and understanding the material. Solely by connecting the widely fragmented information we are creating meaning.
